Sontay has been enlisted to provide a state-of-the-art Building Management System that will play a key role in the renovation of the iconic Battersea Power Station, a historic building that once supplied a fifth of London's electricity.

After decades of sitting derelict, the ongoing restoration of Battersea Power Station has wowed the public as it transforms into a vibrant, cutting-edge destination for residents and visitors, featuring a dynamic choice of dining, shopping and entertainment. Spearheaded by global construction firm, Mace, the colossal project has been aided by the consultancy of Sontay client, Fairlawn Controls, who are providing consultancy in the implementation of smart Building Management Systems (BMS) on the project. 

Phase two of the mammoth brown site redevelopment project commenced in 2018 and concluded in 2022, and is one of seven planned phases. Sontay was selected by loyal client, Fairlawn Controls, who trusted Sontay as a dependable supplier of expert building controls. Sontay was also specified due to its impressive stature within the industry, and the clients were confident the pioneering products would gain contractor approval with ease.  

The Battersea Power Station redevelopment is committed to prioritising sustainability, with dedicated resources aimed at minimising the project’s impact on climate change, and plans are underway to generate renewable energy for nearby communities. By procuring Sontay’s smart building controls for the project, the clients can create healthier and more energy efficient buildings that protect people and the planet. 

An extensive selection of Sontay’s devices was used throughout the buildings, including 80 Liquid Differential Pressure Sensors, 30 Air Differential Pressure Sensors, LoRaWAN hub and sensors, Humidity Sensors and CO2 Sensors. In addition, Temperature Humidity Sensors were utilised to overcome challenging cabling routes in a vast void space, enabling effective monitoring for condensation protection.

The ongoing project promises to deliver a state-of-the-art transformation, with much more in store. Sontay’s innovative smart building devices enable facility managers to optimise the operations of the exciting venue, whilst prioritising the well-being of individuals within the space, and the planet’s environmental needs.
